Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground round
  • 1 cup yellow onion
  • 2 teaspoons garlic
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 18 slices Texas Toast garlic bread
  • 8 ounces triple Cheddar blend
  • bread and butter pickle chips

Method

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Gather all necessary ingredients.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add ground beef along with diced onion. Cook while stirring frequently until the beef is browned and the onion becomes translucent, approximately 8 minutes. Incorporate minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until aromatic.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together beef broth, vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, soy sauce, yellow mustard, and a dash of pepper.
  4. Pour the broth mixture into the skillet with the beef and onion. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens. Remove from heat.
  5. On a large baking sheet, arrange slices of Texas toast in a single layer. Bake them in the oven for 8 to 9 minutes or until the bottoms are golden and crisp while the centers remain soft.
  6. Using the back of a large spoon, create a well in the center of each toast, ensuring to leave a 1/4-inch border. Fill each well with approximately 1/4 cup of the beef mixture. Top generously with shredded cheese.
  7. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the toast is crisp.
  8. Serve the sliders hot, accompanied by pickle chips for a delightful crunch.
