These zesty Texas-style pickles are infused with hot pepper and garlic, creating a deliciously spicy and crunchy treat. Perfect for snacking or adding to your favorite dishes.
Ingredients
2 cups Pickles
3 tablespoons Hot pepper sauce
2 cloves Garlic, minced
1 cup Sugar
Method
Slice the pickles lengthwise and return them to their original jar. Pour in some hot pepper sauce and minced garlic, then add about one-third of the sugar. Tightly secure the lid and gently shake the jar to combine everything. Allow it to sit at room temperature for around a week.
During the week, as the sugar dissolves, periodically add more sugar while gently shaking the jar after each addition to ensure everything mixes well. Continue this process until all the sugar is fully dissolved and absorbed, resulting in pickles that will turn a vibrant dark green while maintaining their crunch.
Before your pickles reach their peak, check four clean 1-quart jars for any cracks and inspect the lids for rust, discarding any that are unsuitable. Sterilize the jars by placing them in simmering water for 5 minutes.
Once the jars are sterilized, carefully transfer the pickles along with their flavorful syrup into the jars, sealing them with lids and rings. Store the pickles in the refrigerator, where they will stay fresh for up to one month.
